The search is on!

Art is that finishing statement to that space where you live and work.
Everything in that room is waiting to be set off with that perfect painting that ties it all together and makes that definitive statement about you.

You may not know exactly where to get them, you kinda know where you want to start.

A great place to start is
at the galleries. They have work that the gallery professionals believe are going to please you, and there is intelligence behind their selection from which you will be choosing.

It's also great to know that when you find work that you are delighted with, you can jump right into the acquisition of those pieces. You could take them with you right now. (Don't you just love immediate gratification?!)

Maybe you haven't found the pieces that are perfect yet, but the hunt for them is part of the fun, is it not?

While you are looking from place to place, I would like to make a recommendation for you:
Consider looking at work online of local artists, too.

I am one of them. I paint the local scene of Park City and other places.
There are other amazing local artists who capture the essence of the people and places that you love, but we are not all mass marketed with art reps and the promotional machine behind us. This is what we do for a living.

Art is partly how you tell your own personal story. I've discussed this point in previous blog posts. What better story can there be than to say you bought an original piece from a woman you heard about from a friend, or an emerging artist who lives and works in Kamas! They are right here in this area and they can use your support.

The best artists that would suit your interests are sometimes in galleries and sometimes they are not. Don't believe it? Remember that:

* 5-time Super Bowl Champion, New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, was draft pick #119 in the 6TH ROUND! In other wards, the "experts" didn't see his abilities and potential prior to his pro career.

• Vincent van Gogh - artist
Painted 2,000 pieces and became known as a painter at the very end of his life, and not collected with any gusto until nearly 30 years after his death.

* Emily Dickinson - writer
Before she died, only seven of her poems were ever published (and those were highly edited by others to fit the cadence of poems of the day.)

* What do Johnny Depp, Tom Cruise, and Cary Grant have in common?
That's right ... none of them have won an Oscar Award.

My point is simple:
BUY ART! Buy from your favorite art sources, but while you are at it ... please support the locals and buy from the local artists. They are easy to find online.
